Russia hails the shift in the U.S.'s foreign policy towards multilateral diplomacy, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced during today's traditional lecture at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO).
"Russia, the U.S. and the European Union must choose a global leadership culture, since the modern world simply will not tolerate unilateral solutions for global problems. We therefore hail the USA's shift to multilateral diplomacy, which has already manifested itself in the country's recently published national security strategy," Lavrov said.
At the same time, the minister indicated that the national security strategy also contained some outdated elements of foreign policy philosophy. "We cannot completely agree with the published strategy," Lavrov stated, adding that innovative cooperation between countries was creating "a positive new line in Russia-U.S. relations."
